Following the success of their Christmas single, ‘The Best Christmas Ever’ (no.1 in the Reverbnation charts) Cage & Co asked us to produce the video for their follow up single ‘So Lonely.’
The band wanted a live-feel video with some special effects thrown in for this grungey rock song with a political theme.
By sheer luck our friends at Ginger Music were in the process of turning an old warehouse in Gateshead into a new performance venue, and agreed to pause works for a day to let us use the space for filming. We all thought that an unfinished warehouse would be the perfect environment for this song.
We set up 2 performance areas – A live ‘stage’ area and a green screen area for the composite shots. We took our mobile green screen, lights, cameras etc. Drums and amps were provided by Ginger.
Get-in started at 10am and the shoot was completed by 4pm – You can see the finished video here: SO LONELY
and the single ‘So Lonely’ by Cage & Co. will be released in January 2015.
The Prima Academy of Performing Arts in Washington, Tyne & Wear is probably the most successful theatre school in the area, and so we were thrilled to film a and produce the DVD for their Christmas show in 2014 – “Dance Delights – Winter”
The show featured some very talented young local dancers performing pieces to popular festive tunes, in a variety of colourful costumes – It was beautifully choreographed and expertly produced.
We filmed with 5 HD cameras plus a live ambient sound recorder and edited and authored the show to DVD. We also provided DVD cover design and print as well as DVD duplication.
Newcastle-based band Cage & Co recorded this Christmas song back in October and asked us to come with a concept for, and film a music video for it – the brief being that they didn’t want to appear in the video themselves much.
Based on the single artwork (the sleeping Santa gnome) we started toying with the idea of a drunk Santa and this eventually morphed into the video we made – which answers the question “What does Santa do on his day off?”
We managed to hire an awesome local Santa who did a fantastic job, and shot the video over a couple of days.
The video is out now and the single, “The Best Christmas Ever” by Cage and Co. is available from iTunes, Amazon etc from 1st December.
We recently popped over to Blackpool to spend a couple of days with the UK’s top comedy double act Clive Webb and Danny Adams. We filmed their brilliant show “Cirque Du Hilarious – Screaming with Laughter” on the Central Pier, as well as some extra segments for their next DVD.
We’ll be catching up with Clive and Danny again in December to film them in panto at the Newcastle Theatre Royal, and some more stuff for the DVD!
We’ve mentioned before that we’ve helped north-east comedian Nick L’Mao with production on his live video-screen act. Well Nick decided he would like to record his current show for posterity, and naturally asked us! And naturally we were glad to oblige. These are the services we provided – Live shoot of Nick’s gig with 4 HD cams, editing and authoring to DVD, DVD disc printing and duplication, DVD sleeve design and print – In short, we filmed his gig and provided him with a fully realised DVD product he can sell to his fans – You would be AMAZED at how little he paid for all of this!!
The Regional Youth Ballet visited the north-east in April 2014 and produced a show at the Whitley Bay Playhouse featuring 60 of the region’s most talented young ballet dancers.
We were booked to produce the DVD of the show including filming, disc design and print, sleeve design and print, duplication and licensing.
The show itself was one of the best ‘youth’ productions I have seen, and the staff at the playhouse were, as always, really helpful.
RYB were so pleased with the DVDs that they have booked us for their next 3 shows – In Halifax, Preston and Whitley Bay again in November 2015.
We always seem to be really busy in March – One of those ‘perfect storm’ sort of months where several regular clients all need something doing, yesterday! I don’t know why it always happens at this time of year, but it’s always a really crazy working all day and night kind of month.
So we were really pleased to be able to squeeze in a flying visit to the Haven holiday park in Berwick, to film a live show for the UKs premier comedy showband The Mad Hatters’ new DVD.
We filmed with 3 HD cams, and combined these in the edit with an audio feed from the sound desk and a ambient recording of the audience. The show was edited and authored to DVD master within 3 days of the shoot.
“Thanks for making us look great!” was Gaz from the band’s review of their DVD.
Our pleasure, Gaz!
We’ve had a very busy summer this year, and so haven’t been keeping this page up to date – Sorry! Here’s an interesting story though: North-east musician Cage recorded an album of songs to raise money for the very worthy Marie Curie charity after losing his father to a short illness. We had just one very rainy morning in Seaton Sluice to record this music video. We were going to take a load of sliders and other stabilizing gear down to the beach, but decided on the day that a shaky hand-held feel would suit the mood of the song better.
Go buy the song and support Marie Curie here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/as-rich-people-stand-look/id688356990 Or Here:http://www.amazon.co.uk/When-the-Light-Gets-Lighter/dp/B00EL0EDHQ
It’s only 89p or something, and you’ll feel all warm inside.
We were out and about last Friday night filming the 2nd semi-final of the talent contest at the G Casino in Stockton.
The standard of the 12 acts was really outstanding, with some very talented individuals, and I don’t envy the judges’ job one bit!
We filmed with 2 HD cameras; the photo here is of Andy X performing his own song ‘Waiting for a Train’
Jenior Turpin is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle. His critically-acclaimed debut album was released in 2012, and we filmed the launch show in Tynemouth on 8th December.
From this footage, and from an in-depth interview with Janior, we have produced his first DVD ‘An Audience with’. This will be released on 6th March with a big-screen viewing to media and selected guests.
Our involvement in the project has been as follows: Live Show filmed in HD on two cameras; Live audio recorded from the mixing desk; show edited; Interview filmed in HD on two cameras; DVD edited; DVD authored; DVD Duplication; Use of our 8 foot screen and projector for the launch screening.
